What is Simulcast?

Simulcast is an electronic selling stream that extends the physical auction experience onto the Internet. Using video/audio streaming you can see and hear all the live action from the auction.

What are the minimum requirements for Simulcast?

  • Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP/Vista/7 (32Bit & 64Bit) Operating system
  • Oracle Java JRE 6 (32Bit) or Later
  • Internet Explorer version 6 or Later
  • 64 Mb of RAM
  • Pentium II Processor

What is Java?

Java is a free downloadable program that runs our Simulcast application..

What version of Java will I need?

When downloading ensure you download the 32bit version as 64bit will not broadcast audio.

Where can I download Java?

You can download Java from www.Java.com.

What speed Internet is required to run Simulcast?

Our Simulcast auctions will run on just about any internet connection however users may experience difficulties if using dial up or wireless broadband.

I click “Simulcast” and nothing happens

This is caused by a pop-up blocker. The blockers come in many different forms and if the user has Windows XP Service Pack 2 then there is a pop-up blocker built into Internet Explorer. Please note some pop-up blockers need to be removed and some can simply be disabled, however some will still block pop-ups if they are disabled. In this case you would have to remove it completely.

Hint: Most of the time many of these pop-up blockers can be bypassed by simply holding down the “CTRL” key and clicking “Simulcast” at the same time. These products include:

  • Google Toolbar
  • Yahoo Toolbar
  • MSN Toolbar
  • Sensis Toolbar
  • Norton Internet Security
  • Internet Explorer 6 with SP2

I launch Simulcast and it says “Error Creating Socket”

The socket connection error will cause the user to not receive audio and video streams and in most cases the user will not be able to successfully establish a connection to Simulcast. To resolve this, ports must be opened on your proxies and firewalls to ensure a connection can be made to Simulcast. A list of the ports can be found below.

Network Details

Some larger networks may require certain ports to be opened in order to run Simulcast. The details for this are listed below.

Service TCP IP Address Notes
HTTP 80 125.255.134.71 HyperText Transfer Protocol (e.g. for web browsing)
Application 1602 125.255.134.71 Simulcast 4 Application
Media Casters 9100
9101-9105
9201-9205
9301-9305
9401-9405
9501-9505
125.255.134.69 Audio & Video Streaming Servers

When I click on “Simulcast” the window opens and I receive a red cross in the top left hand corner

This is caused by the computer/network security policy being too high. To resolve this the security must be lowered to medium-low and the cookies and temporary files must be cleared.

I have Simulcast open, however I cant hear any audio

Check to ensure the audio plug-in has been installed. If this plug-in has not been installed you may need to lower your internet explorer security settings in order to be prompted to use this audio control.

I can hear the auction but I cant see it

This is caused by low bandwidth. Simulcast can adapt as bandwidth runs out and in order to keep bidding integrity it will drop frames per second and sometimes video to ensure audio is crisp and bidding is instant.
